On a typical Memorial Day weekend, my family and I would spend time together, eat, hangout, wear red, white and blue… I would stay at home and take the time to remember soldiers who fought in past wars and provided service for our country. This weekend was different. I wasn’t able to spend time with my family, but I was a part of another special thing. I was still able to take some time to remember our soldiers, but I did more by doing a full weekend of community service, volunteering, and performing for the community. I can easily say this past weekend was the best Memorial Day weekend I’ve ever experienced.
So, what is this special thing? The Strawberry Festival. The Strawberry Festival is an annual event held on Memorial Day weekend in Garden Grove. Instead of telling you about it, I can show you ⤵
DAY 1: Volunteered at the Tiny Tots King & Queen Contest, served cake to the community from the World Largest Strawberry Cake, met Forrest Wheeler, and hung out with the Mayor of Garden Grove.
DAY 2: Sang the National Anthem at the 5K Strawberry Stomp, rode on a parade float for the first time ever, and volunteered with the Elks Lodge.
DAY 3: Volunteered at the Berry Beautiful Baby Contest, walked around for a bit, volunteered with the Elks Lodge, went to dress rehearsals, and sang at the Miss Garden Grove and Friends Show!
DAY 4: Volunteered at Red Head Round-Up, rode rides, and volunteered with the Elks Lodge.
